Markets Close Higher Over Upbeat Earnings

Upbeat earnings tempered a drop in consumer confidence lifting the markets to a modestly higher close. The Dow rose 35 points to 12,954 while Nasdaq added a point to 2525. S&P 500 lost a point to 1480. The 30-year bond rose as the yield slipped to 4.804%.
