Upbeat Earnings Lift Markets To Higher Close

The markets rose to close higher on upbeat earnings news. The Dow jumped 96 points to close at a new high of 11,948 while Nasdaq climbed 38 points to 2346. S&P 500 gained 13 points to 1363. The 30-year bond rose as the yield eased to 4.911%.
