Weak regional manufacturing activity weighed down the markets to a lower close with the Dow falling 43 points to 12,421 while Nasdaq lost 12 points to 2416. S&P 500 slipped 5 points to 1418. The 30-year bond inched up as the yield eased to 4.691%.
